5 Ways to Overcome Procrastination

Procrastination is one of those things we all experience and continue to do even though we know it only makes things worse. It comes in many forms and affects almost all areas of our lives. It feels like at any given point we’re all procrastinating at least one thing. So, what can we do about it?

  1. Prioritize. Getting rid of old clothes is probably not as important as that assignment that’s due at midnight. Make your to-do list and order them based on urgency.

  2. Split one big task into multiple small quick tasks. You’re bound to get overwhelmed when you know you need to complete a huge project, so break it into small manageable tasks that you can easily knock out. Take it one step at a time.

  3. Be clear on your motivation. Why do you need to do this task? Whether it’s for someone else, meeting a deadline, getting organized, or anything in between, be clear on your why.

  4. Plan a reward for completing a task. No matter how small or big, reward yourself for doing that task even though you were dreading it! It also helps to have something to work towards.

  5. Hold yourself accountable. Whatever method of accountability works best for you, make sure you get it done.

But let’s be real. Even if you follow all of these steps, you will inevitably end up procrastinating again at some point, so give yourself some grace and try your best!

Lots of love,

Andrea
